Tourism in Almunyecar
The beaches are wide, very clean and pleasant; the only setback being that like many beaches of the Granadine coast, they consist of gravel: in the area of Velilla it is finer, while more coarse in the area of San Cristobal. The beaches do not receive much foreign tourism, rather they are filled with Granadinos who have summer residences there.
In Almuñecar we can enjoy the castle, the ruins of the Phoenician fish salting factory, or the Jazz Festival and cinema that take place in the Majuelo Park.
Furthermore one of the attractions of Almuñecar are its nightly parties: the town contains lively festivals at nightfall and there are many places in which to enjoy oneself. Usually the fun begins in Plaza Kelibia, the Paseo del Altillo disco, or the Aqua Tropic that stays open till dawn. The Plaza of Ayuntamiento and the Paseo de los Bajos are also places to see, and we can often find private parties on the beach all summer long.
The town festival of August 15th is not to be missed.
